I thought it was about time I took a little break from the mountain of university work that I have been wading through the last few weeks, and pop on over to the blog to catch up with what is going in the land of creativity.
I was welcomed back by a lovely blog post on pillows a la mode letting me know that the prize I sent as part of my latest giveaway had finally arrived! I don’t mind in the slightest sending parcels abroad, but I do tend to panic when they take so long to arrive! Her blog is certainly worth taking a look at – full of loads of creative ideas and inspiration.
Alongside the gigantic workload I have been focusing on, I have also been making handmade gifts for Christmas and I am pleased to say that even with over a month still to go until the big day… I am completely done!
We have been super organised this year, mainly because I knew I was going to be so busy. There is one little draw back however.I am desperate to blog and share my creative gift ideas but I can’t, otherwise everyone will know what they are getting for Christmas!!! The big question now is do I post about my collection of ideas just AFTER Christmas or do I wait until just BEFORE next Christmas?
Hmmm… What to do???
I’m in shock to be able to say that even with being so busy I have managed to find a little bit of time to do some sewing.
I thought this jacket went really well with this dress and gave it an autumn feel!
I think I have found a new obsession, adding doilies to things. It looks so unique and was really rather simple to do.
This dress took an awful long time to make due to the electricity in my sewing room failing, attempting to fix it myself, it failing again, having to gt an electrician, shelves falling down and having to repair them… you get the picture! there were lots of distractions and I hate being distracted when I make something. Once i start it it has to be finished there and then otherwise I loose interest!
add to this the fact i made a little bit of a mess of the armholes and could barely squeeze my arms through at first. As I’m sure you can tell – this dress was the cause of some premature grey hairs!
On a positive note however running into so many issues has made this creative expedition very educational. I am looking forward to a second attempt at a dress using doilies as a key feature where I can put into practice all the things I have learnt.
Just a little extra note. I came across a blog post about a week or so ago that I found I could really relate to that I just HAD to share it. I am new blogger and although I LOVE blogging and really enjoy it, I have found it hard to figure things out all on my own, or even find time keeping on top of my blog, comments and other blogs I like to follow. The Thinking Closet was kind enough to compile a list of really useful hints and tips for new bloggers that I know I will/ have found very useful and I am sure you will too! pop on over and take a little look, and whilst you are there, perhaps you can take part in her latest giveaway also

Thank you for the sweet shout out . . . and your dress is LOVELY! Can’t wait to see all those handmade Christmas gifts, too!
reckon I’ll mosey off over there toThe Thinking Closet and see what I can find to help me too – I’ve only been in this blogging thing since March myself. So far I’m enjoying browsing around in your blog – and I love those earrings you sent Pillows A-La-Mode!! I’ve been really impressed and encouraged by how the blogging world helps each other out.
I couldn’t have said it better myself! My sewing and crafting has come on leaps and bounds since starting my blog – about the same time you started your coincidentally – and I put that improvement down to the wonderful feedback I have gotten from all the lovely fellow bloggers! xxx
So glad I found your site via Pillows A La Mode! I can tell I’ll enjoy visiting often! Fantanstic ideas!!!
Thank you very much and welcome to my blog! it’s always great when you get to meet someone new
I’m very happy to say I have returned the follow and look forward to exploring your blog also xxx
OK…I just went over there and WOW, what a lot of help I found! Thank you twice – once for the follow, and again for the sharing of great ideas.
Lol – told you it was a useful post, and a wonderful blog
Thanks to you too for popping by – hope to speak again soon xxx
The doilie looks gorgeous on that dress! Brava! And thanks for the shout outs. You’re so sweet, Hannah! Happy Sunday.
You are very welcome – I just thought your blog and that post was worth sharing. Happy Sunday to you too ( although I’m typing this a midnight so happy Monday also!) xxx
What fun! Lovely doily dress!!! I’m kind of in the midst of a doily project, so I love them =D
Oooh – can’t wait to see your doily project
I have a big bag full of them that I commandeered from my nan! hehe xxx
Ooooh, you’re so lucky! I searched all over town and was at my last estate sale of the summer, when I found a box just full of them. So I bought like fifteen for 50 cents each, which turned out to be a pretty good deal. But still I would rather have been in your shoes =D
Hey, 50 cents each isn’t bad! I think I may have gone a little crazy if I’d come across that deal. my nan is the best though – today she has handed over a bin bag full of new, unused duvet sheets for me to cut up! Don’t know what I’d do without her! lol xxx
I HATE when the electric goes out. I had that happen the other day when I was in the middle of something, but you perservered and this looks great!
Visiting today from the Raising Imperfection hop.
Thanks for stopping by! it really was frustrating – can’t wait to try it again without all of the interruptions. though knowing my luck I have probably just jinxed myself
xxx
Super cute dress, I would say it was worth the frustration!
Thanks for linking up to Raising Imperfection!
