The Allie Dress is my sewing baby right now.
I just keep making different variations, it is all I will be wearing all summer.
I am guilty of teaming the bodice pattern with gathered circle skirts – it is just that they are so easy to draft and look so effective, especially when teamed with my big net underskirt. Not sure how comfortable it will be to wear my net underskirt when the weather gets hot though?
Perhaps I need to ensure my next version incorporates a different style skirt…
…challenge accepted, I will get straight to work on it this weekend… hopefully!
Today’s version of the Allie Dress is made from bed sheets!
The mint coloured fabric was from a plain undersheet and the white fabric, although you can’t see it in these pictures, has teeny tiny mint coloured polka dots on it. It is actually the same fabric I used for my Pin-Up Girl dress, I think you can see the polka dots better on that one.
The patch pockets look really effective on this version, and although I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my red gingham Allie dress, I must admit this version feels a little more ‘everyday’ wearable. What do you think?
Here is a really clear picture of the shirred back, and you can see where I have added some elastic where the shirring ends, just before the skirt starts, it cinches in the waist a little more to create that great silhouette.
